ajnabi > The chitrali topi, probably the most famous of all Pakistani hats. Known for its reputed place of orgin, Chitral, a mountainous region along the Afghan border. It became a worldwide hit during the Afghan war against the Soviet Union when any mujhahid worth his kalashnikov sported one. It is usually made of course sheep wool like this one or fine felt. Also known as the pakol, it is Pakistan's only brimmed hat. Extremely warm in winter and amazingly comfortable. This man, from Rawalpindi, asked me to take his picture.
